To celebrate the 100th anniversary of its Cooperatives Unit (COOP), the ILO aims to bring together scholars and practitioners working with governments, employers’ and workers’ organizations, as well as cooperatives and the wider social and solidarity economy (SSE) for a two-day international symposium.

The ILO calls for papers for the ILO COOP 100 Symposium on topics addressing cooperatives and the wider SSE, including:
Care economy in a changing world
Concepts, operationalization, and measurement for statistical purposes
Decent work in the rural economy
Employment generation
Gender, equality, and diversity
Global supply chains, and responsible business conduct
Green jobs for a just transition
Historical perspectives on concepts, practices, and policies
Human-centred approach to the future of work
Labour migration and forced displacement
Legal and policy frameworks
Peace and resilience
Skills development and capacity building
Sustainable development goals
Transition from the informal to the formal economy
Submissions should be in English and include an abstract of not more than 100 words, 3 to 5 keywords, main text of 2,000 to 2,500 words, full references, as well as a biographical note of 40 to 100 words and email address for each author. Papers will be selected by a scientific committee. Acceptance of a paper implies that at least one of the authors must be available to deliver a paper to be held on 16-17 November 2020. It is expected that an edited volume will be produced, drawn from selected symposium papers.
