Iran-Iraq to Sign Agreement on Exchange of Skilled Workforce
In a meeting between the Iranian Minister of Cooperatives, Labour and Social Welfare and the Iraqi Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, ways of expanding bilateral cooperation were discussed.
Expressing pleasure to meet with his counterpart, Mohammad Shariatmadari said: Encouraging stability, territorial integrity, strength, honor, authority, independence and improving the regional and international position of Iraq is of great importance for the Islamic Republic of Iran. The two countries have successful experiences from Isis invasion and cleaning the region from Takfiri terrorists. We believe that Iraq is an important weight in the political and security interactions of the region and the two countries’ common points and strategic links guarantee the security and stability of the whole region.
Shariatmadari added: The two countries can complement each other in the economic issues and it is heartening that very good steps have been taken in this regard. We need to reach the annual trade prospect of 20 billion USD.
He also reiterated that during 2012 and 2015, two joint statement on cooperation of the Ministries were signed that were instructive measures to develop and deepen relationship. Therefore, he suggested setting up a joint committee, following the signature of the 5-year joint action plan, to pursue implementation of agreements more seriously, as, according to him, such action plan could be used as the road map of cooperation on a variety of areas such as technical and vocational training, employment, labour market, labour relations and social welfare.
